Charging your EV at home is a central part of the experience for many drivers. But, what if you wanted something a bit nicer?

Andersen EV might have the perfect option. The British manufacturer has crafted a line of high-end EV chargers designed for the more discerning customer and it recently formed a new partnership with Jaguar Land Rover to bring its chargers to new EV drivers.

In this week’s Mobility Moments, we caught up with Rob Mouser, the company’s Executive Chairman, to find out more.

Can you explain the story behind Andersen?

Going electric is more than an ethical choice. It’s a choice to embrace the future. A decision to bring your home, and your life up to date with pioneering and intelligent technology. We don’t believe anyone who’s made that choice should be forced to compromise on the design of an electric home charging unit, especially given how the design of electric vehicles has come on so rapidly in the last few years.

That is what inspired Andersen to produce products that look effortlessly stylish on the front of an EV driver’s home. We truly believe we have the most beautiful home wall charging boxes on the market.

What does luxury charging look like compared to regular home charging?

Luxury charging means several things.

Firstly, the box must look beautiful.

Secondly, the installation service customers receive should be seamless. For example, and in contrast to much of the industry, Andersen offers an end-to-end tailored service, from order to on-site survey, through to having the wall box installed by a qualified and professional Andersen electrician. This ensures a customer’s home charging unit is installed to the highest standards.

Thirdly, the usage of the box once installed is smart and easy for customers to use. The A2 is packed with smart technology. Through the Kønnect+ app, customers can control the energy between their home, EV and solar panels, as well as schedule charging and benefit from over-the-air software updates, which ensure the charging experience improves over time.

What are the main features of your A2 home charger and the Konnect+ app and what makes them stand apart from other chargers?

From modernist townhouses to charming coastal cottages, the Andersen A2 home charger can be personalised to match the unique style of any home. It’s available in a choice of 96 diverse colours and finish combinations, including precision-engineered metal or sustainably sourced Accoya wood.

Aesthetically, customers will also benefit from a unique hidden compartment which means the charging cable and plug cannot be seen when not in use. This is unique to any home charge point on the market.

Each Andersen charge point is made to order in our UK factory using materials of the highest quality.

In addition, through the Kønnect+ app, customers can control the energy between their home, EV and solar panels, as well as schedule charging and benefit from over-the-air software updates, which ensure the charging experience improves over time.

Why is it important that customers have high-end home charging options?

We believe that anyone who’s made the choice to go electric should not be forced to compromise on the design of an electric home charging unit, especially given how the design of electric vehicles has come on so rapidly in the last few years.

Why is JLR the right fit for you to partner with?

They are two, world-renowned British brands that collectively share our passion for pioneering, intelligent technology that looks effortlessly stylish. Our Andersen A2 sets a new standard for home charging devices and installations that perfectly complements the dramatic beauty of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles.

How do you see the home charging market evolving in the next ten years?

Technology will continue to be developed at a significant pace. These technical developments will encompass a number of areas; battery technology, charging speeds, energy storage, energy network (grid) optimisation and more. In time your car will not only communicate with your charge point but your home and energy supplier too.
