ORA UK has announced the pricing details for its first UK model — the Funky Cat.

The funky feline in question will hit the market as a ‘First Edition’ series with pricing starting from £30,495, after the UK government’s grant for low-emission vehicles.

ORA, the UK subsidiary of Chinese company Great Wall Motors, has received 6,000 UK registrations of interest for the Funky Cat and expects full sales to start this autumn with deliveries taking place shortly after.

ORA is also working to establish a nationwide network of retailers as well as offering models through its ORA Online sales platform — which is planned to launch in August.

The Funky Cat First Edition models will come with a 48 kWh battery, offering a 193-mile range. ORA is also offering a “very comprehensive” five-year, unlimited mileage warranty. The battery, meanwhile, will be covered for eight years or 100,000. Servicing will need to take place every two years or 18,000 miles.

The Funky Car has Type 2, 6.6kW single-phase AC and 11kW three-phase AC charging as standard. Funky Cat First Edition will also feature a maximum of 80kW DC rapid charging and come equipped with a CCS socket as standard.

Based on 15% – 80% charge status, 6.6kW home charging will take users around 5 – 6 hours. This time is cut drastically when moving up to 11kW on-street charging, which takes around 3 – 4 hours. Additionally, 80kW rapid charging will take around 40 minutes.

“We are really excited to launch the ORA Funky Cat into the UK market. This exciting new EV will set the precedent for the brand, offering customers a premium, technology-led experience with a completely unique look and feel,” says Toby Marshall, Sales and Marketing Director of ORA UK.

Funky Cat drivers will get adaptive cruise control, 360-degree cameras, a reversing camera, LED headlights, and 18-inch alloy wheels as standard. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also available to drivers along with wireless phone charging.

“The UK is a key launch market for the GWM ORA brand and I look forward to launching our first product, the ORA Funky Cat, later this year,” says Yao Fei, VP of Great Wall Motor.

“As a new disruptive EV brand, we will offer customers high-quality products, with a unique design that will bring a fresh new look to European streets.”
