The legendary US brand DeLorean Motor Company, Inc. has revealed the first images of the Alpha5, its all-new electric vehicle (EV). Gallery photos explore the coupe’s exterior and interior, revealing sleek lines, classic louvers, and DeLorean’s iconic gull-wing doors.
Estimated specifications include a range of 300+ miles, a battery of 100+kWh, and electronically limited top speeds of 155 mph.
Images and accompanying details of the vehicle shed light on the dimensions of the car, two of its exterior paint colours, including a launch edition debuting at the Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance in August.
The Alpha5 has been developed in partnership with Italdesign.
Historically, the DeLorean-Italdesign relationship goes back to November 1974, when Italdesign was entrusted to work on a project to create a 2-seater, rear-engined, sports car almost exclusively aimed at the American market.
Troy Beetz, Chief Marketing Officer of DeLorean Motor Company, says: “Taking design cues from the past to inspire the future, the new EV visibly showcases its iconic DNA. The Alpha5 is a representation of the past 40 years of DeLorean. There was this enormous responsibility to make sure we honored the history of the DeLorean brand, but an even greater responsibility in curating its future…I think we did both with the Alpha5.”
On the new website, Joost de Vries, CEO DeLorean Motor Company, adds: “The Alpha5 is for people that love to drive.”
DeLorean Motor Company‘s Alpha5 is set to premiere on Thursday, August 18 at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in the US.
