XPENG has opened reservations for its electric P5 “smart sedan” in four countries across Europe.

Prospective buyers in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and the Netherlands will be able to reserve the P5 from today, which is set to start at around €28,000. Dutch and Swedish buyers will also be able to get a look at the car in one of XPENG’s Experience stores in Stockholm and The Hague.

The P5 is the first of XPENG’s cars to be available across four European markets at the same time. Previously, the Chinese company had opted for a more incremental approach to car releases.

The customer reservation journey is a fully digital experience, with buyers ordering from the XPENG website or app.

“The XPENG P5’s arrival in four key European markets is a new demonstration of our commitment to Europe,” said Leon He, Vice President of XPENG.

“Each new XPENG model achieves a new level of technology sophistication. The P5 brings a host of differentiated features to a new customer base in Europe, a market where we are building ourselves as a long-term player.”

Test drives, however, won’t become available until April 2022.

The mid-sized P5 promises to be a “smart sedan” with a range of high-tech features. It comes equipped with version 2.5 of XPENG’s in-house developed Advanced Driver Assistance System (XPILOT), and its intelligent in-car operating system – Xmart OS. These promise to offer advanced levels of driver assistance and “superior passenger comfort and convenience.”

The P5 should be able to manage 465 km of range from its 66 kWh battery. It also comes with a huge 12.3-inch LCD dashboard and a 15.6-inch centre display with in-car voice control capable of distinguishing between driver and passenger positions and a range of in-car apps to “assist, inform, and entertain driver and passengers.”

Leatherette seats, an advanced surround sound system, and “Xfreebreath intelligent air purification” should keep your passengers happy, even if someone farts.
