Alpha Motor Corporation has unveiled the SUPERSAGA – “an exciting evolutionary step forward” from the Saga, itself unveiled just six days ago.
The new SUPERSAGA is planned to be equipped with a “high torque and low weight dual axial motor all-wheel-drive system” that apparently will propel the car for 60 mph in 4.6 seconds.
That’s not all, however. The “cylindrical lithium-ion battery modules” are expected to deliver 300+ miles of range – that’s further than a Tesla Model X and Ford Mustang Mach-E. Impressive, considering that Alpha has never actually produced a car.
“SUPERSAGA is an engineering opportunity to develop the performance potential that can be achieved with EV technology,” says Marty Slater, Head of Energy Solutions, Alpha Motor Corporation.
Compared to the original SAGA, which won the “Top Coupe” award at the LA Auto Show’s ZEVAS Awards last week, the only changes seem to be cosmetic.
Prospective buyers are promised a wider, gaping front grille plus a small front splitter, some contrived riveting around the front wheel arches, and a huge carbon fibre rear wing and diffuser. Wheel manufacturer Rotiform has been drafted in to provide its DTM Satin Black 20-inch wheels.
And that’s pretty much all we know. There is no information on availability or pricing – though the standard Saga is expected to cost between $40-50,000 if and when it arrives.
At the launch of the company’s Alpha Wolf pickup truck, Joshua Boyt – a “representative” of the company’s “Move Humanity movement” – said that car should be available by the end of 2023.
Maybe don’t reach for your credit card just yet.
