Jaguar Racing has announced it is committed to racing in Formula E into the 2022/23 season and beyond.

With the Gen3 era of the Formula E World Championship due to start next year, Jaguar is hoping its involvement in the series will help it develop new sustainable technology and support the company’s “renaissance” as an all-electric brand from 2025.

“The Gen3 era of Formula E is an exciting new chapter for the all-electric World Championship. It is already proving to be the perfect environment to design, collaborate, test and develop new sustainable technologies at pace,” says Thierry Bolloré, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover.

“Jaguar Racing will not only play a role in the renaissance of Jaguar as a pure-electric luxury brand but across the entire electrified Jaguar Land Rover ecosystem, helping to deliver our sustainable future and our digital transformation.”

The Gen3 electric race cars are set to be lighter, more powerful, and more efficient. They are also set to demonstrate developments in fast-charging technology. The Gen3 cars will also see a power bump from 250kW to 350kW and a maximum regenerative braking power from 250kW to 600kW.

“Jaguar is a key player in the future of luxury electric vehicles. It’s a testament to the shared purpose that one of our earliest supporters, Jaguar Racing, are committing to Gen3 in anticipation of the 2022/23 season,” says Jamie Reigle, CEO of Formula E.
