Reports have emerged that the Volkswagen Group is currently in discussion with Croatian electric supercar maker Rimac.

The German auto group’s Porsche brand currently owns approximately 15% of Rimac and, with this, will increase its stake to 49% using Bugatti as a dealbreaker.

Rimac, which is run by CEO and serial entrepreneur Mate Rimac, has attracted investment throughout the global automotive industry. Partnerships to date include Hyundai, Kia and Aston Martin.

Founded in 2009, Rimac launched its first vehicle, the Concept One, in 2016, which boasted over 1,200 horsepower and a top speed of 211mph.

Stay tuned for more as it develops.
